Press Characterizations
The primary purpose of a press characterization is to provide a communication tool for the printer, color separator and client. Our target images are designed for multiple scenarios, whether the printer is characterizing for line work only, or a combination of line work and process print. We offer flexibility in our color management system utilizing both spectra data and dot gain density measurements.

We rely on the spectra data portion of the characterization image for our customers that request direct digital contract proofs (filmless). The dot gain portion is mainly used for our customers who still prefer analog contract proofs (requires film).

Both spectra data and dot gain characterizations provide consistent and accurate print predictability.

Mastergraphics will modify the platemaking film or laser engraving to match the separations to the characteristics of the printing press. Through commitment, cooperation, process control and measurement, satisfied results will be produced on a regular basis.
